about

Fredrik Astevall was a part of the Swedish underground techno scene from the late nineties until the early 2000's when he relocated to Berlin. He's behind a number of releases under different names and labels spanning over almost two decades, and with "Third" he shows his love for the deep and minimal side of techno.
Across five original tracks and two stellar remixes, Astevall weaves his magic with solid production and creative sound design. Echoes of a lost Detroit can be heard in the sonic motifs of opener 'YNK', each building tension towards a powerful conclusion. 'The Cut' ups the ante with off-beat bass giving drive from the first bar. Machine funk at its finest.
'Simplest Possible' continues the theme. Claustrophobic and hypnotic in equal measures, it's a perfect early morning, heads-down stomper. Peak-time, 'Koriander' powers on with clattering hats and insistent sonics. And 'Bean V2' in its remastered form is guttural and raw; controlled chaos made throughly danceable. On the remix, Patrik Skoog tackles 'Koriander' faithfully, smoothing out the rough edges for a deeper, soulful ride and Chain takes 'Bean V2' in a more musical direction, adding atmospherics and a bouncy main lead.
